The numbers for autism has been exaggerated because autism was not a very "popular" disorder and very people knew so much about it. That's only because doctors didn't know how to look for it. Now that the technology is advancing the data is becoming more efficient and accurate and simply showing cases that already existed just had never been found.

Technology is advancing and it's allowing the research and testing part of diagnosing to evolve so that more children are diagnosed and tested properly. Advancing technology will not only allow their to be more ACCURATE data but it will allow the doctors to find the disorder faster and when the children are way younger.
